NLWS - Naval Laser-Warning System

Laser Detection and Identification 30 Март 2015, 12:40
Laser activity in your vicinity might mean the presence of a threat. Saab's Naval Laser-Warning System (NLWS) is capable of detecting and analysing lasers in blue-water and littoral combat environments. This system provides vitally important situational awareness to the command team about the presence of laser activity.

FEATURES

THREAT DETECTION

The NLWS detects and analyses laser transmissions used for ranging, targeting, or confusion.

OPERATION

The NLWS can either be a standalone system with its own display and control; be integrated into the combat system; or integrated into the range of Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems provided by Saab. The system can also be operated in a fully automated mode or together with operator intervention for intercept analysis and recording.

COUNTERMEASURE INTEGRATION

The NLWS can be integrated with a countermeasure system
(e.g. the MASS supplied by Rheinmetal Munitions) for the implementation
of countermeasures.

NUMBER OF SENSORS

The number of sensors required to achieve full platform coverage depends on the size of the platform. Saab provides design support to ensure the optimum number of sensors and installation.

THREAT LIBRARY

A threat-library management system (TLMS) tool can be provided to prepare mission files for threat identification and to analyse recorded data.

IN USE

NLWS systems have been delivered to the German Navy.
Systems have also been procured by UAE Navy for the Baynunah corvettes.
